Mossel Bay Whale Shark Diving Things to Do Tourist Attractions

Nothing compares to the adrenaline rush you experience when coming face-to-face with one of the world’s greatest predators. You will be guided through this incredible encounter safely and efficiently. What’s more, you don’t need any prior experience with diving to enter the cage.

Now that you have a general idea of the timeline you’ll be following throughout the morning afternoon, it’s time to get a little more detail about the dive.

Once you arrive at the anchor site , you’ll receive your second safety briefing of the day. The fun really starts when the crew start to chum the water to attract the sharks, using fish and natural marine products. Once the chum and bait are in the water, the waiting game begins. Either minutes or hours later, when these magnificent creatures have made their way to the boat the cage is lowered into the water.

Slip on your goggles, jump into the cage and experience an underwater view like no other. If you don’t feel like getting your hair wet, surface viewing of the sharks is amazing too! To ensure that everyone has a chance to set their eyes on the sharks, divers will rotate through the cage approximately every 20 to 30 minutes. Then, once everyone has had a turn in the cage you can jump back in. The trip usually lasts between 3 and 4 hours, and clients will be offered a light lunch, snack and drinks on board to keep you replenished.

Following your trip you will ride back to the harbour to watch the video of the day and enjoy tea and coffee at the house. You can purchase a copy of the DVD for an additional cost of R350.
