Having done a lot of searching around I decided that Aqua Age would be the best option for me and my partner to do our PADI Advanced Open Water course while on holiday in Antalya, Turkey. It is important to know that the PADI AOW course is made up of 5 adventure dives, each focusing on advanced skills to broaden and deepen your diving experience to allow you to safely explore new and deeper underwater locations. The information they provided in advance was good and reassuring. I was suspicious about the high cost of the mandatory PADI book (€60) but since the overall cost was reasonable I was willing to swallow it. The Transfer: We were picked up at the agreed time from our hotel and the first alarm bells started to chime. We were the only people with our own dive gear and the rest of the shuttle passengers were clearly on a "try diving" excursion. The trip from Antalya to Kemer was pleasant enough and included a 10 minute stop for refreshments. We arrived at the marina along with two similar shuttles and we were all herded towards the boats. FYI for people bringing your own gear, this is about 300 meters where you will be carrying your dive bag. The Boat & Lunch: Unbelievably, even though we were in a large group arriving, we were not the first ones there and we proceeded to cram ourselves on board. In the end I would estimate we had between 50 and 60 people on board, ranging in age from 5 to 50 and all but a few were on a "try dive" tour package. Not much to say about the boat. It floats which is key. Pretty basic services and oddly all the on board costs were in USD. Lunch sounded great but was at best barely edible. Lunch consisted of overcooked bony white fish, barely warm spaghetti with a hint of tomato sauce, salad and bread. No beverages were included with lunch. The Diving: Finally we arrive at the most important part of the review. As we headed to the first of two dive sites our instructor went over the plan. Our first of our 5 dives would be a review of all the basic open water skills in 2 meters of water. The second would be a "drop off" dive. Whoa there, those aren't PADI adventure dives! While I am not averse to doing a few refreshing skill exercises, this does not qualify as an adventure dive. The second dive, while reaching a depth of 22 meters, had no plan other than jump off the boat and then make our way underwater to the boats second site. Again, without a specific objective you cannot reasonably class this as an adventure dive. Both locations were poor. They obviously use the same spots each day for their "try dive" photo shoot which results in a lot of debris in the water. Other than the fish they feed to get photos, there is virtually nothing to see in either place. Or second dive was confusing and ultimately dangerous. Very little plan was provided in advance. By the time we reached 3 meters it was obvious that something was wrong with my 2nd stage. Each breath under water resulted in water flooding the mouthpiece. Because the boat had now left and we had no way to contact them, I had little choice but to continue the dive using my octopus. After 30 minutes and around 15 meters depth I indicated to the instructor that I was down to 80 bar of air. He confirmed back and then proceeded to go deeper... We continued for a couple minutes at which point our dive computers were alerting us that the no decompression limit was going to be exceeded and I was down to 50 bar so we signaled the need to ascend. Because the dive was not well planned, we surfaced a long way from the boat and spent many long minutes attempting to get their attention. They eventually sent a small, deteriorating skiff out to pick us up. The original intent was to return the next day to do the final 3 adventure dives but given the experiences of the first day we were not prepared to have this crew take us on our first 30 meter wreck dive. I contacted them that night to express my dissatisfaction and desire for a refund. I will also be writing to PADI to report their poor delivery of PADI training. Conclusion: This company is completely geared "try dive" excursions. For this they might get a 3 rating. But as a day boat for diver's with any previous experience I would say that Aqua Age is at best pitiful and at worst potentially very dangerous. After numerous phone calls, Aqua Age finally only agreed to refund the books and half the cost of the course despite failing to deliver any of the promised adventure dives and providing no instruction whatsoever. In all likelihood, if you are visiting the area and sign up for a "try diving" excursion, you will end up on one of these terrible boats. On the day you may be pleased or disappointed but there seems to be few options. If you are an experienced diver, I hope this review helps you avoid one of the worst diving experiences you will ever have.

    Good dive rencer byFlorin:

We spent 4 days with Aqua Age. We are a family of 3: - me (father) received my PADI AOWD certification - our 10 year old son got his PADI Jr OWD certification - my wife just hung out with us (the plan was for her to get OWD as well, but she had an ear infection) The courses were 3 days and we spent a 4th day fun diving. We had great fun, even though the Mediterranean fauna and flora are nowhere near Indian Ocean where we spent our last 2 vacations. The staff took good care of us and were good fun. The food was acceptable and the amenities good. But a special thanks goes to the amazing Seçil the PADI instructor who trained both my son and me, an angel of patience who took care of our son like of her own child. People on board were of different levels, from certified divers to people experiencing their first "Discover scuba" event, and everyone seemed happy at the end of the day.
